Thanks for purchasing QuickCam! While we are sure that you are happily using QuickCam to do basic movies and stills, we wanted to overwhelm you with other possibilities to try. This CD-ROM is part of our commitment to make QuickCam one of the most useful input devices you have ever hooked up to your Macintosh. To that end, you will find lots of information and applications on this CD-ROM.
There are a variety of folders on this CD-ROM. Here is a short description of each:
COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS — This folder includes working versions of commercial products, with special upgrade offers to QuickCam owners. Inside you'll find Avid VideoShop 2.0, Motion Works QuickMorph LE, NetPhone, Quick Media Labs Living Album, and BeingThere by Intelligence at Large.
CONNECTIX SOFTWARE — Here is where the basic QuickCam software resides. You will find a full installer with the latest version of the QuickCam software (1.1 as of 12/8/95). You will also find a special addition: the QuickFrame Editor, which allows you to create your own custom frames for QuickFrame.
FREEWARE — Products in this folder are freely available and may be distributed and copied for non-commercial purposes as long as you provide all files included by the author(s). Check out CU-See Me, Cornell University's videoconferencing software (both PowerMac and 68K Mac versions are included here to save you the time it takes to download them).
SHAREWARE — Here's where you'll find products that you can try out for free. If you continue to use the products, be sure to send in the registration fee suggested by the author(s). A wide variety of interesting and useful products reside here, including CamBot (check out the color and motion sensing modules!) and a Photoshop acquire module.
TUTORIALS/SAMPLES — Finally, we wanted to show you what others have done with QuickCam, and also give you some tips on how to use QuickCam with a variety of applications. In Using QuickCam, for instance, you will find technical notes that demonstrate how to use QuickCam with three common applications.
